Cookie Policy

Last updated: June 23, 2026

This document describes TraceRoster's current use of cookies in plain language. It must be reviewed and approved by qualified legal counsel before being relied upon, and it does not constitute legal advice.

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. We also use similar technologies, such as local storage and comparable identifiers, that work in a related way. Together these technologies let the Service recognize your device, keep you signed in, remember your choices, and understand how the product is used. This Cookie Policy explains what we use and how you can control it. It works alongside our Privacy Policy.

1. How we use cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate TraceRoster, keep your account secure, remember your preferences, and measure how the Service is used so we can improve it. We do not use cookies for third-party advertising or cross-site ad targeting.

2. Categories of cookies we use

  • Strictly necessary: These keep you signed in, maintain your session as you move between pages, and protect your account against abuse. Without them, core features such as logging in and staying authenticated cannot work, so they cannot be switched off through the Service.
  • Preferences: These remember choices you make, such as your chosen view, so the Service behaves the way you expect on your next visit.
  • Analytics: These help us understand how people use the product, for example which features are used and where problems occur, so we can improve it. Our analytics are provided by PostHog.

We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not allow third parties to use cookies on the Service to build advertising profiles about you.

3. First-party and third-party cookies

Some cookies are first-party, meaning they are set directly by TraceRoster. Others are third-party, meaning they are set by service providers that help us run the Service, such as our analytics provider. You can review the providers we rely on in our Sub-processors page.

4. How long cookies last

Cookies fall into two groups based on how long they last. Session cookies are temporary and are removed when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them, so the Service can remember you and your preferences on future visits. The exact lifetime depends on the purpose of each cookie.

5. Your choices and how to control cookies

When you first visit, we ask whether you accept optional analyticscookies. If you choose "Reject analytics," we do not set analytics cookies and our analytics provider does not capture your usage; only strictly necessary cookies are used. You can change your choice at any time by clearing this site's cookies and local storage in your browser, which brings the banner back on your next visit.

Most browsers also let you view, manage, block, and delete cookies through their settings. You can usually choose to be warned before a cookie is stored, block cookies from specific sites, or clear cookies that have already been set. The steps differ by browser, so check your browser's help pages for details.

Please note that if you block or delete strictly necessary cookies, core parts of the Service may stop working. In particular, you may be unable to sign in or stay signed in, and your session may not be maintained.

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no common industry standard for how such signals should be handled, so the Service does not currently respond to them. We will update this policy if that changes.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the technologies we use or for legal or operational reasons. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the Service or by other appropriate means. Your continued use of TraceRoster after an update becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
